Without a plan it’s easy for things to get out of hand. Here are some steps you can take to make sure all of your gifts get handled reasonably and efficiently.

  1. Make a list: Write out everyone you need to purchase a gift for this season.
  2. Create a budget. Decide how much you want to spend and write it down.
  3. Disburse your budgeted funds across your list. Adjust as necessary until you feel good about your total outlay vs. what you have to spend per person.
  4. Stick to it. Track your purchases against your list to stay within the confines of what you determined to be a reasonable amount of money to spend this holiday season.

I really believe one of the best ways to make Christmas enjoyable is to plan out gift buying. I have found in years past that I spend WAY too much when I don’t plan and budget. I end up gifting items that are not very well thought out and too expensive. On the other hand, when I plan, the gifts are better and more reasonably priced.

Planning out your Christmas List demonstrates a caring heart towards others while still maintaining responsible stewardship over your resources. It’s a win win!
