Without a plan it’s easy for things to get out of hand. Here are some steps you can take to make sure all of your gifts get handled reasonably and efficiently.
- Make a list: Write out everyone you need to purchase a gift for this season.
- Create a budget. Decide how much you want to spend and write it down.
- Disburse your budgeted funds across your list. Adjust as necessary until you feel good about your total outlay vs. what you have to spend per person.
- Stick to it. Track your purchases against your list to stay within the confines of what you determined to be a reasonable amount of money to spend this holiday season.
I really believe one of the best ways to make Christmas enjoyable is to plan out gift buying. I have found in years past that I spend WAY too much when I don’t plan and budget. I end up gifting items that are not very well thought out and too expensive. On the other hand, when I plan, the gifts are better and more reasonably priced.
Planning out your Christmas List demonstrates a caring heart towards others while still maintaining responsible stewardship over your resources. It’s a win win!
